The Lumang Simbahan is located in Poblacion, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro. This Old Church was built in its namesake Recollects Parish “Parokya ng Rekoleto” as a church and convent for Nuns made of stone finished with lime or  “apog” during the leadership of Padre Jacinto Perez de San Agustin in 1861-1866.

The mystic beauty of Katibawasan Falls, Camiguin

Image
To complete the day in Camiguin, we headed back to the center of Mambajao and take an opportunity to visit the Katibawasan Falls. Then, take another five-kilometer route with a slight elevation going through Mt. Timpoong. This trip was part of my bucket list in completion of the three waterfalls exploration in the Island of Camiguin and I was very fortunate to be here. My curiosity got activated due to numerous locals told me that this waterfall has the most scenic vicinity, feels like in fantasy series but thinking to have little exaggeration.

CAMIGUIN | The most picturesque place of the dead, the Sunken Cemetery

Image
After the unforgettable visit at the White Island, we headed to the most picturesque sight of the dead, the Sunken Cemetery in barangay bonbon, the town of Catarman;  just a less than 30 minutes ride from the small town of Mambajao.  Camiguin is a volcanic island, with an active stratovolcano, the Mt. Hibok Hibok, surrounded by the seven volcanic edifices. A volcanic eruption has been recorded in 1871 and once again erupted in 1948 to 1951, which resulted in hundreds of lives lost, buildings ruins, including the old church and the sunken cemetery”.
