The municipality is part of the 3rd district of Zamboanga del Norte and is composed of 34 barangays.

In terms of governance, Sirawai operates under the Sangguniang Bayan system, with Mayor Aljazar P. Janihim leading the local government. The Vice Mayor is Pulman M. Darquez, and the Representative is Adrian Michael A. Amatong. The municipality has an electorate of 23,225 voters as of 2022.
